Rob and Christy have lived and traveled in many different countries. Trying to learn some German, Slovak, Ukrainian, Russian, French or Czech is as challenging as learning English - we know, we’ve had to do it!  Plus, we’ve had to learn different types of English - Canadian, Australian, Irish, Scottish and ‘international’ English.

Christy and Rob have worked with people at all levels of English, in businesses, English schools and in private training.  

We've worked as English trainers and as business professionals in IT and senior management, too.  We’re both certified TEFL teachers.  Christy also has a Postgraduate Certificate in Education.

Whatever you need English for, we’re here to help!

We're both personal and business partners.

Together, we created Story & Birch as an ideal way to combine our professional experience and our love of teaching people English.  

We love the idea of opening up our home to people wishing to develop their English with native speakers.

Born in Australia, Christy spent many years in Scotland and Ireland before moving to Ukraine and then Germany.

Now she's in Nova Scotia.

Not only can Christy speak a few words in other languages, but she’s a great cook too!

Rob was born in Toronto, Canada. About 7 years ago, he left to discover what Europe was all about.

He lived in The Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany before finally returning to Canada with 3 cats and, of course, Christy.

This man can ask for a beer in four languages!
